Google Doodle Remembers Alan Rickman’s Incredible Career

The English actor Alan Rickman, who p@ssed away in 2016 at 69 following a battle with cancer, is the subject of Google’s newest Doodle. According to thenationalnews.com, On Sunday (30 April 203), the 36th anniversary of his performance in the Broadway production that helped establish his career, Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Dangerous Liasons), Rickman was recalled for his deep and languid voice.

The Tony Award nomination and subsequent film offers came following Rickman’s performance as the cunning French aristocrat Vicomte de Valmont.

Drawing Rickman with his eyebrows raised and surrounded by leaves, artist Helene Leroux said it was a “privilege to honor” his life and achievements with the Google Doodle.

“I wanted to illustrate Alan’s passion for creativity — represented in the soft watercolors of the background in reference to some of Alan’s most beautiful artwork,” she told PA Wire.

“Following his de@th, Alan’s popular autobiographical diaries also captured the nation’s attention. The fine represents these candid and entertaining reflections, fountain-pen-like scratches layered on a background resembling white lined paper.”

“His diary scribbles also inspire the branches on either side of the Doodle. His diverting on-screen performances have undoubtedly left a unique and lasting imprint on British culture, and I am thrilled that it lives on via my doodle today.”

An esteemed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art graduate, Rickman became known for playing villainous roles with a sly, alluring glee.

In 1988’s Die Hard, Rickman played Hans Gruber, a cr!minal mastermind who is now widely regarded as one of the most iconic film villains of all time. Due to the film’s commercial success, he was cast as an adversary in subsequent films like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
