Google has finally revealed its latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, along with its second-generation smartwatch, the Pixel Watch 2, at its annual Made by Google event on Wednesday. The new devices showcase Google’s AI and hardware integration, as well as its new custom-made processor, the Tensor G3.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro: Features, Specifications and Price
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are the first smartphones to feature the Tensor G3, Google’s own system-on-chip that promises to deliver faster performance, better battery life and enhanced AI capabilities. The Tensor G3 also powers the new Titan M2 security chip, which Google claims is the most advanced hardware security in any phone.
The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz, while the Pixel 8 Pro has a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Both phones have an in-display fingerprint scanner and face recognition for biometric authentication, as well as IP68 dust and water resistance.
The Pixel 8 series also boasts impressive camera systems, with a primary 50MP sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens on both models. The Pixel 8 Pro also adds a 48MP telephoto lens with up to 30x zoom. The front-facing camera is a 10.5MP shooter on both devices. Google claims that the Tensor G3 enables better computational photography, such as improved HDR+, Night Sight, Portrait Mode and Motion Mode.
The Pixel 8 has a 4,575mAh battery that supports 27W fast charging and 18W wireless charging, while the Pixel 8 Pro has a larger 5,050mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging and 23W wireless charging. Both phones also support reverse wireless charging for compatible devices.

The Pixel 8 comes with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, while the Pixel 8 Pro comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Both phones run on Android 14, which introduces new features such as Material You Design, Live Translate, Privacy Dashboard and more.
The Pixel 8 series comes in three color options: Obsidian (black), Hazel (brown) and Rose (pink). The Pixel 8 starts at $699 (roughly Rs.58,097) and the Pixel 8 Pro starts at $899 (roughly Rs.74,720). The pre-orders for the new Pixels have begun in select markets, including India, where they will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Pixel Watch 2: Features, Specifications and Price
The Pixel Watch 2 is Google’s second attempt at making a smartwatch after the first-generation Pixel Watch that was launched in 2019. The new watch has a circular design with a rotating crown and two buttons on the right side. It has a stainless steel case and comes in two sizes: 42mm and 46mm. It also offers various strap options, such as leather, silicone and metal.
The Pixel Watch 2 runs on Wear OS by Google, which is based on Android Wear but has been optimized for the Tensor G3 processor. The watch has a multi-path heart rate sensor that can measure heart rate from different points on the wrist, as well as a SpO2 sensor that can monitor blood oxygen levels. It also has a built-in GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Pixel Watch 2 can track various activities and workouts automatically using Fitbit’s algorithms. It also has Fitbit’s stress management system that can help users cope with stress by providing insights and suggestions. The watch can also access Google Assistant, Google Pay, Google Maps and other Google services seamlessly.
The Pixel Watch 2 has a battery life of up to two days on a single charge and supports fast charging via a magnetic charger. It also has an emergency sharing feature that can send your real-time location to your contacts in case of an emergency. Additionally, it has a medical info feature that can store your health information and share it with health services if needed.
The Pixel Watch 2 comes in three color options: Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white) and Bay (blue). It starts at $299 (roughly Rs.24,840) and will be available in select markets soon. Interestingly, the watch will also be coming to India, unlike the previous generation.
