Michael Bolton has been a significant and enduring figure in the music industry since 1975. To celebrate his 50th year as a musician, he released the greatest hits album “A symphony of hits” in February of 2019.

Even though Bolton has made a lot of public appearances, his health has been questioned. People started analysing his behaviour and putting it down to a disorder or two when he was out in public. This made rumours spread even faster. Some of the worries may have been real, but a lot of them were absurd, and it’s only fair to address them.

Michael Bolton postponed a show in Oulu, Finland, during the European leg of his global tour in 2019 due to an illness he did not reveal. It was recommended that he get some rest and get medical attention as soon as possible.

The musician similarly cancelled his October 5, 2021 show in Cardiff, Wales, few minutes before it was to begin. SJM Concerts, the event’s organiser, said they would postpone the show because Bolton was sick. The announcement read:

“Unfortunately, tonight’s show of Michael Bolton at the Motorpoint Arena Cardiff has been postponed due to illness, Michael is deeply sorry to his fans and a possible alternative date will be announced soon.”

His subsequent performance, set for 7 October at Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, was similarly postponed because of the cancellation. Once again, Bolton used Twitter to update his followers on his health and express gratitude for their patience and support. You can check the official tweet by Michael Bolton below in which he feels blessed for all the wishes he has received.

Bolton never revealed the nature of his illness, but he got better quickly enough to continue performing. Thus, it’s possible that he caught some sort of mild ailment, like the flu or a cold, around the autumn dates of his tours.

Is Michael Bolton Suffering From Parkinson’s Disease Or Samson Syndrome?

After a morning show appearance, Twitter users speculated in February 2019 that Bolton suffered from Parkinson’s disease. People said that something about the way he looked and moved reminded them of the disease.

The unofficial diagnosis was never addressed or confirmed by Bolton. Since then, he has made several public appearances, but has displayed no outward signs of illness.

The media also reported that he had a history of prostate cancer that had returned. Bolton has always been a strong supporter of cancer research and the cause, but he has never himself been diagnosed with the disease.

An article published in 2013 with the headline “Michael Bolton Turns 60: Still Rebounding From Samson Syndrome?” has apparently been misunderstood to suggest that Bolton suffers from “Samson Syndrome.”

The article draws parallels between the renowned biblical warrior Samson, who gets his strength from his long, uncut hair, and the iconic long-haired singer Michael Bolton of the 90s. Samson Syndrome is not a real disease, the article’s author just used it as a figure of speech.

Right now, Bolton is full and on its way. The concert in Seoul, South Korea, in January 2023 was his first performance in nine years. Soon after, in February, he performed at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the MusiCares Persons of the Year Gala. You can also check the tweet below in which the lead single from Michael Bolton’s first album is out now.

He will be performing in the Hollywood Bowl on June 10, 2023, and he was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show on February 7. Based on how often Michael Bolton performs and goes to public events, it’s safe to say that the 69-year-old singer is in good health.
