She performed the National Anthem at the National Rodeo in Oklahoma City one evening during her sophomore year. Reba’s singing prowess intrigued country music star Red Steagall, who found her thanks to the performance.

One of the tracks on her 1979 “Out of a Dream” album, her second album, was a top 20 smash cover of Patsy Cline’s “Sweet Dreams.”

Reba made her first tentative steps into the acting scene in 1990. She would go on to feature in numerous television series, Broadway productions, and movies. She debuted as an actress in the 1990 film “Tremors” and later starred in the Broadway production of “Annie Get Your Gun.“
