The Witcher Season 3 Teaser: Geralt’s Last Stand

The true nature of Henry Cavill’s final mission in The Witcher can finally be known. Cavill’s final appearance as Geralt of Rivia began on Tuesday( 25 April 2023) when Netflix released the first teaser trailer for the show’s upcoming third season.

This first trailer hints at the “everything changes” that will occur when the series returns this summer. Cavill’s main man declares, “Now, for the first time, I understand real fear,” before he draws his sword in preparation for war.

Here you can watch the first sneak video for The Witcher Season 3, which is coming soon.

The Netflix synopsis reads, “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.”

“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery,” the synopsis continues. “They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”

The Witcher, a Netflix original series based on the books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, debuted in December 2019. The fantasy thriller, created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, stars Cavill as the monster hunter Geralt of Rivia in a world where humans are shown as being eviler than any monsters.

Other notable actors in the show include Freya Allan, Eamon Farren, Anya Chalotra, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Royce Pierreson, Mimî M. Khayisa, Wilson Mbomio, Anna Shaffer, Mahesh Jadu, Tom Canton, Mecia Simson, and Kim Bodnia.

Even though season 2 wouldn’t drop until December 2021, Netflix has already renewed the program for a third season in September. Hissrich, the showrunner, has been dropping hints about the upcoming season since earlier this year.

The TV show’s trailers from previous seasons are available for viewing.

“Money aside: S3 is huge,” she tweeted in January. However, in October, Netflix announced that season 3 of Cavill will be the final. Liam Hemsworth will take over his role as the monster hunter.

“As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” Hemsworth, 33, wrote on Instagram at the time. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honored that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”

Adding a message dedicated to his predecessor, Hemsworth said: “Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.” The Witcher Season 3 releases on Netflix on June 29.
