Walter and Taesha welcomed King Von, whose true name was Dayvon Daquan Bennett, into the world on August 9, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois. His father gave him six half-siblings and his mother three siblings. Because his father was often behind bars, Bennett’s mother reared him.

He was eleven years old the last time he saw his father. Bennett had a protracted run-in with the law that started with his first arrest at the age of sixteen. After that, to earn a few college credits, he attended South Suburban College in South Holland, Illinois.

Following more legal troubles, Bennett turned his attention to his music career and often collaborated with fellow rapper Lil Durk to make a difference.

King Von Death

Authorities in Atlanta reported that King Von, a rising rapper from Chicago, was one of the three fatalities from an early Friday shooting. Following the incident, three more persons received hospital treatment for their injuries.

At four in the morning on Friday, the rapper—whose real name was 26-year-old Dayvon Bennett—and his entourage were at Atlanta’s Monaco Hookah Lounge when two men approached them. What began as an argument escalated into a gunfight, according to a report from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which is investigating the event.

Officers from the Atlanta Police Department arrived at the scene. The bureau claims that two police officers opened fire at two different locations. There were no casualties to the police during the encounter.

His label, EMPIRE, issued a statement mourning the rapper. The statement said:

“He was a loving father, dedicated member of his community and an amazing talent that just started to scratch the surface of his boundless potential, Von overcame incredibly challenging circumstances as a young man, but never lost sight of what it meant to give back and uplift his community.”
