What is Miranda Sings Controversy Story?

Miranda Sings was developed by Colleen Ballinger, a YouTuber based in Los Angeles. Ballinger portrays a teen girl whose signature look is the sloppy application of bright red lipstick. In 2008, Miranda Sings rose to fame on the back of intentionally bad covers of popular songs including “Hello” by Adele and “What Do You Mean?” by Justin Bieber, among others.

Colleen Ballinger, better known by her YouTube name Miranda Sings, has recently been the subject of s*xual misconduct allegations.

The internet celebrity was accused of “trauma dumping” and sending s*xually explicit messages to fans after she became the first YouTuber to have her own scripted TV show in 2016. She played the ukulele and dismissed the claims as “lies and toxic gossip” in a new video she uploaded to her Colleen Vlogs channel on YouTube.

She said: “Some people are saying things about me that just aren’t true. Even though my team has strongly advised me not to say what I’m going to say, I realized they never said I couldn’t sing about what I want to say.”

Why is Colleen Ballinger So Controversial?

She has been accused of “trauma dumping” and sending s*xually explicit messages to fans, despite becoming the first YouTuber to obtain her own scripted TV show in 2016. In 2020, fellow YouTuber Adam MacIntyre made a video titled “colleen ballinger, stop lying” in which he accused her of fostering an unhealthy relationship with him when he was 13 years old.

When accused of emailing MacIntyre her underpants, Ballinger posted a video in May 2020 titled “addressing everything” to counter the claims.

She said: “No, I should have never sent a fan underwear, how stupid am I? No, I definitely should have never given him access to my Twitter account, and no, I shouldn’t have talked to him as often as I did.”

Fans of Miranda Sings have recently opened forward to HuffPost UK about their purported interactions with the singer. A participant named Becky recalled that at a “yoga challenge” event in 2019, Ballinger summoned participants up on stage and had them lift and spread Ballinger’s legs while a fart noise was played.

“I looked up to her so much and I just trusted her so much that I did it,” Becky said. “I laid down and she just spread my legs wide open for everybody to see.”

She continued, “I was mortified in that position,” when discussing the incident. Shock sank in. However, I didn’t want to leave [the fandom] entirely because I’d made so many good friends there.

“So for a little bit, I was pretending to be like ‘Yeah, that was really funny.’ I was worried that I would be called ungrateful because I got to go up on stage.”

As Ballinger released a video denying the allegations, MacIntyre said, “As much as colleen discredited & made fun of me, I’m glad her video did ONE thing, show you all EXACTLY the type of evil woman she is, that a lot of us have experienced over the past few years behind the scenes, the mask has slipped…Here is the one and only authentic Colleen Ballinger.”

For example, Ballinger claims that: “Some people are saying things about me that just aren’t true. Even though my team has strongly advised me not to say what I’m going to say, I realized they never said I couldn’t sing about what I want to say.”

Then she clarified, “I used to message my fans – but not in a creepy way, like a lot of you are trying to suggest. It was more of a loser kind of way. I was just trying to be besties with everybody.”  She said, “There were times in DMs when I would overshare,” but that she has “changed my behavior and taken accountability.”
