How Did Joey Jordison Die?
According to CNN, Jordison passed away on July 26, 2021, at the age of 46. Family members issued a statement saying the drummer had died peacefully in his sleep and that “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of unimaginable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music.”
This was not the first original member of Slipknot to die at a young age. Sadly, original bassist Paul Gray passed away in 2010 due to an overdose. Many people, upon hearing about Jordison’s death, questioned whether or not it was due to the same cause. However, there were reportedly no illegal narcotics detected and no suspicious circumstances, as reported by TMZ.
Amanda Victoria, Jordison’s ex-girlfriend and the person in charge of his affairs, discovered him at his home. After not hearing from him for a few days, she went to check on him and discovered that he had passed away. She had previously labelled Jordison a bad alcoholic who also suffered from some other health difficulties.

What Were Joey Jordison’s Previous Health Concrens?
Acute transverse myelitis, which he had been diagnosed with in the 2010s, has been suggested as a possible contributing factor to his death, though this has not been confirmed. When Slipknot revealed in 2013 that Jordison had quit the band, many people were outraged, accusing the band of unfairly dismissing Jordison after his symptoms appeared. Later, on his own Facebook page, Jordison confirmed that he “did not quit Slipknot,” adding that he was “blindsided” and “shocked” by the news. In 2016, when Jordison gave an interview to Metal Hammer, both parties finally broke their silence. He explained in that interview how he had lost the use of his left leg, then both, rendering him unable to play drums prior to beginning rehabilitation.
The National Institute of Health describes the disorder as inflammation of the spinal cord, which disrupts central neuronal communication throughout the body and can cause paralysis, limb weakness, and other symptoms. “I got myself back up and I got myself in the gym and I got myself back in therapy to beat this fucking stuff,” Jordison told Metal Hammer. Jordison picked up the drums again in 2016 and joined the band Sinsaenum.
