In the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 was revealed. It will add a bunch of new characters and tracks to the game. This is the fifth update for Mario Kart 8, and each one has added a lot to keep the game interesting. The latest game in the world-famous kart racer series has been out for almost ten years, so these Booster Course Pass Waves help keep players from getting bored while they wait for a whole new game.
As with the other updates to Mario Kart 8 from the Booster Course Pass, Wave 5 brings back some fan favorites from older Mario Kart games and adds a few treats of its own. The following characters and tracks will be speeding into Mario Kart 8 this summer.

Kart 8’s Wave 5 New Track
The remaining tracks in Mario Kart 8’s Booster Course Pass Wave 5 are likely to be remastered from previous Mario Kart games, given this wacky venue is the only new course confirmed for this Wave. The actors are shrunken to a tiny size and sent to a giant restroom where they race each other. There are some risky leaps in Squeaky Clean Sprint, like over toilet bowls, soap bars, and a fast-filling bath.

The bathroom is decked out in Mario memorabilia, from Mario-themed rubber duckies to bottles of Princess Peach bubble bath to Blooper-brand detergent. This may merely look like a quick course because of how little the characters are. Similar to other Mario Kart 8 tracks, this one may require more laps despite a faster overall lap time. The track appears to be multi-tiered from high-level overviews.
The course may loop back on itself across multiple levels due to its various curves, leaps, and inclines. It’s possible that some of these are shorter or more direct options. Whatever the case may be, it seems like Squeaky Clean Sprint is a fun track with lots of hidden references and gags for the players to discover and appreciate.
New characters of Kart 8’s Wave 5
Kamek
With the release of Booster Course Pass Wave 5, Mario Kart 8 will also feature a cameo by Kamek, arguably the most infamous Magikoopa. Despite not being available until Mario Kart Tour, Kamek made his debut in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. In 2001, the Game Boy Advance received the first handheld installment in the Mario Kart series. Kamek has a little role in the game and may be found near the end of the Bowser’s Castle course.
Kamek, who first appeared in a trailer for Mario Kart 8, drives a purple scooter with yellow accents throughout the game. Kamek is Yoshi’s main antagonist in the Mario franchise as a whole. Since Yoshi’s Island, he’s been on a mission to rescue the infant Mario and Luigi from Yoshi’s care so they can’t grow up to cause trouble for the Koopa clan.
Recent games have included him as a major opponent with Baby Bowser in Yoshi’s Wooly World and Yoshi’s Crafted World. However, when Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 is released, he will compete against Yoshi for the Mushroom Cup.
It will be difficult to prioritize which of the many new characters arriving in Booster Course Pass Wave 5 to try out first. However, with only one new course to contend with, this is the ideal time and place for golfers to show off their improvements. A release date and more information for the fifth wave of the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 should be announced soon.
Wiggler
With the release of Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass, the four-armed worm Wiggler will also squirm his way into Mario Kart 8. Wiggler has made numerous cameo appearances in the Mario Kart series prior to Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS, where he made his debut as a playable character. Players of Double Dash’s Mushroom City and Mushroom Bridge levels had to avoid a Wiggler-shaped bus.
In Mario Kart DS, he was a boss in the game’s later levels, and as the race progressed, his anger would cause him to become increasingly dangerous. The Wild Wiggler, a segmented yellow ATV, is a Wiggler-themed vehicle that players can pilot in Mario Kart 8. Wiggler made his debut in the 1990 release of Super Mario World for the SNES. Since they couldn’t be defeated with Mario’s standard jumps, they posed a challenging new challenge for the player.
Attacking them simply made them angrier, redder, and faster. The Tropical Wiggler, clad in bright hues and pink headgear, first appeared in Super Mario Odyssey. In one game, Mario used Cappy to command Tropical Wigglers, allowing him to traverse more ground by stretching out the creatures’ segments. The Wigglers, with their desire for speed and quickness to anger, should be a good fit for the upcoming Booster Course Pass Wave 5 in Mario Kart 8.

Petey Piranha
The fifth wave of the Booster Course Pass in Mario Kart 8 will bring back Petey Piranha. In 2003’s Mario Kart: Double Dash for the GameCube, Petey Piranha made his first appearance in the Mario Kart series. Previously, players had to finish the Star Cup to access him, but now all they had to do is pay for the DLC. Petey Piranha’s Double Dash companion was King Boo, as was the case with other racers.
The two villains were spotted traveling around in the Piranha Pipes, a green tube vehicle. Petey Piranha rides a basic green motorcycle decorated with Piranha Plant stickers in the trailer, however, it is unclear if this will be in the final game. Petey made his first appearance in the Mario Kart series in Double Dash, however, he was first introduced in Super Mario Sunshine.
One of the earliest bosses players will face is Petey Piranha, who shows up in the game’s first objective in the unlocked location of Bianco Hills. In the game “Down with Petey Piranha!” players take on Petey Piranha head-on.
After the player pours water into his mouth using F.L.U.D.D. and then ground pounds his stomach three times, he is easily beaten and his muck is cleaned up from the arena. Petey Piranha may struggle on the Squeaky Clean Sprint circuit in Mario Kart 8 due to his apparent aversion to water.
